Brass band concert delayed to Saturday

Torrential rains washed out the City of Morehead’s Freedom Fest celebration on Saturday, June 27, forcing the cancellation of the first concert of our newly-organized Cave Run Brass Bandits under sponsorship of the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra.

The history-making event was postponed until Saturday, July 11, and will be staged at 6 p.m. at The Trail on North Wilson Avenue in downtown Morehead. Located in the former Trail Theater building, The Trail is a live music bar/lounge in the new entertainment district surrounding the city’s former post office.

The concert will be part of the rescheduled 2026 Freedom Fest observance and is free and open to the public.

For the information of CRSO supporters, formation of the Cave Run Brass Bandits is the first effort to form smaller musical ensembles for community outreach, education concerts, or specialized recital series.

If successful, the Cave Run Brass Bandits will evolve as a less costly ensemble, enabling the Orchestra to host “Picnic with the Pops” and other musical performances to generate more revenue without incurring the expense and logistical challenges of our 60-piece Orchestra.
